The Port of Busum from where we are going to visit the Island of Helgoland.

Many a small fishing boat finds home at Busum.

The police are there as well, ready for any marauding Danes.

A drawing I did ot the police launch while we were there.

Leaving Busum behind.

I take the opportunity to write some of my story on the ship. There was a slight swell and some folk were a bit ‘upset’.

We had to get into small boats to get to the shore and people are being helped off the ship, some rather white faces as well.

Here is our ship at Helgoland, the ‘Lady von Busum’.

I thought I saw a seal in the sea, but there were plenty of toy ones for sale. Helgoland is a tax free island where people go to stock up on liquor, giant Toblerones and of course toy seals.

Here is the coastal path around the island. I did not go all the way around as it would have taken all our time there and I would not have had time to eat. I walked around about half way.

There are small gardens on the island as well has hundreds of shops. This is the Windmill Garden.

Here are some birds at the most northerly tip of the island.

Helgoland FC play here, the manager is a great believer in the ball being round.

This is a view across from the Helgoland to the nearby island of Dune.
