This is called the Eagle Tower. Edward II was born her and was made Prince of Wales as a baby by his father Edward III. The king had told the Welsh nobles that he would give them a prince who could not speak a word of English and he kept his word.

King Edward designed the walls of the castle with bands of different coloured stone so that they would look like the walls of the city of Constantinople.

In 1912 another Edward was made Prince of Wales in this castle and the ceremony took place in this stone circle. The present Prince Charles was also made Prince of Wales here.

Castles can be expensive and king Edward ran out of money and was unable to completely finish it.

Which way to the castle?

This is the Conwy station, which looks like part of the castle.
