This is the Robert Burns Museum in Alloway. Robert Burns (1759-1796) was a famous Scottish poet. This is a very good museum wall all kinds of Robert Burns information. He was a Freemason, friend of Guiseppe Garibaldi, did a lot of drinking, fathered a lot of children, oh and he also wrote poems.

One of his poems was inspired when he overturned a mouse nest. I somehow thing that the mouse was not quite as big as this one.

The Robert Burns birthplace cottage. This is all nicely preserved with authentic sounding noises in the various rooms. You know they even used to keep farm animals in the house.

Poppies in the Burns Memorial Garden.

The ‘Brig ‘o Doon’, which features in the poem ‘Tam O’Shanter’.

A bust of the Great Man himself.

Here I am in the Burns Monument.

Some of the flowers in the Burns Memorial Garden.

This is the car we had, a Peugeot 3008. It behaved very well despite having a handle to put on the parking brake just like the one I have for taking it off!

The Carlton Seamill, where we stayed in West Kilbride.

Out the back of the Carlton Seamill is some grass with bushes where there are hundreds of rabbits. Behind the bushes is the beach where I took this picture as the Sun was going down.

Now we are ready to go across the sea to Arran. The ferry opens it’s mouth ready for the cars.
