The ruined Lochranza Castle on the North Coast of Arran.

The Town of Lochranza.

The ideal place for cheese lovers. We were given samples on the ferry. All but one were quite nice, the bad one had chilli in it!!

This is the view from the Ellengowan where we stayed.

Looking down from the balcony to the garden.

Off on a walk to the King's Cave we walked by a dark forest.

A classic red mushroom. This is Russela Emetica and I read on the Internet that you can chew it for the 'pleasant peppery taste', but must remember to spit it out or the after efects will not be good.

Russula Claroflava is a mushroom that you apparently can eat, but only if cooked.

It was a long path past the forrest but eventually it went down to the beach.

On the beach there were lots of these strange towers made of pebbles.

Here is a picture taken from inside of a cave.

This is a cross carved in the back of the King’s Cave itself. This is the cave where Robert Bruce saw a spider trying to spin a web across the roof, it took several tries but eventually it made it’s web. This inspired him to go and try again fighting his enemies.

A view of the coastline from the path going back to the carpark

Somehow I was expecting to see a pixie come out of the woods and sit on the mushroom.

Some Belgians enjoying camping on the Arran coast.

We went to see an 'important stone circle'. We came across the 'important burial place' which had been partly excavated. The had dug up part of it, but not the part where the person was burried which surprised me - there may still be treasure in there.

This is a view of the important burial place. We never found the important stone circle. I could not see it anywhere and it must have still been quite a long way from here. I was a bit tired from the walk to the King’s Cave so I made do with just the burial place

It’s a long straight deserted road along the coast heading North to Lochranza.

The Moon over Ayrshire, seen from the balcony.
